Laurent Darrieux BYOT Workshop October 14th!

We will be hosting a bring your own tree workshop with visiting French bonsai artist Laurent Darrieux on October 14th, 2023.

Laurent started in bonsai with his father in 1987 at the age of 15. He is well-known as the creator of the Kozumikku style of Bonsai:

"We first called it ‘Burton Style’ in tribute to the dreamlike world of Tim Burton and then we renamed it ‘Cosmic Style’ because our trees are a tribute to cosmic energy, they are like the big bang, matter that is born and dies indefinitely without asking a moral question. Unlike man, nature does not judge; it is content to simply exist. Like our creations." Laurent's workshop will take place on October 14th from 9am to 3pm, with a half hour break for students to go find lunch (we can recommend several good spots!). Students should bring trees, or purchase one from the nursery. Wire and soil are provided here. Students can bring their own tools. Tools are available for loan or purchase.
